Does anyone have suggestions of things I can do before we TTC. We want to TTC in the summer of 2005 and I'd like to know what I can do for myself as far as nutrition, etc. I've also heard of women taking prenatal vitamins before they are pregnant to get used to the nasuea is may create. Has anyone heard of this?

At the point in my former marriage when we were talking about having kids, I started taking a prenatal vitamin (a generic Target one). They have the same thing at Wal-Mart, or just a general multivitamin would work, too. It took a bit for my stomach to get used to it, but that was only a few weeks (2-3?). I also drank plenty of OJ and milk. I know some girls make a pre-TTC appointment with their gyno, but not everyone does. You could talk to your gyno, and see what they suggest. But the prenatal vitamins/increased OJ & milk consumption, that doesn't have to be done until 3 months prior to TTC.
I hope this helps! If you do a general search on "pre-conception" websites, there is information out there on the 'net at your fingertips, too.

I would definitely make an appt. w/ your ob/gyn and talk to him/her about TTC. :) About 2 months before you start, it's a good idea to start taking a prenatal vitamin for the folic acid that's in there. Folic acid is very important to a pregnancy. As for causing nausea, different brands will do different things. I found that an otc prenatal vitamin didn't make me feel any different than a regular vitamin, but a prescription vitamin made me a little queasy. You could also start taking your temperature using a basal body thermometer. This way, you can start tracking your ovulation cycles and know when it's the best time in the month for you to successfully TTC. Other than that, a consistent exercise program before pregnancy is always good because you don't want to start anything after your get pregnant. Something as simple as walking is great! :aok: It makes for a healthy pregnancy too. And, you've already mentioned eating well and that's key to a good, healthy pregnancy as well! Good luck! :)

Just to add to what's already been said, I took a prescription prenatal vitamin, and the only time it made me queasy was when I made the mistake of taking it without food. UGH. :puke:

Hey, I'm back on the boards. I've been off BCPs. This is my second cycle. I've also been charting. i want to see how my body works throughout my cycle. It seems that I'm in the mood right at ovulation time. Mother nature at work.
We are waiting til December to TTC. However, my doula said I should be taking prenatals now. She takes them simply because they have awesome vitamin benefits.
Right now I'm wondering what's going on with my body. Been spotting for 3 days then all of a sudden it stopped. Looking at my chart, it looks like I'm late. But I didn't temp for 1/2 the month (it's definitely a habit to get into) and it's only my second cycle of BCP's. I'm not sure if my body is wonky simply because the hormones are having to adjust. If I'm positive I'll welcome the pregancy. it'll be earlier than planned but that's ok.
Welcome back to the boards :) Its a possiblilty that your cycle is a bit screwy at the moment since coming off the BCP's. I know that most Dr's/M/w get a realistic view of a pregnancy gestation if you have been off BCP for 3 months + this way it is more likely that your body has gotten into a pattern.
Good advice from your Doula to take prenatals now. I am taking it that you are more OTL right now rather than TTC that way, if you fall pregnant before December you will be safe in the knowledge that you covered :)
