I've always been a huge supporter of parents donating umbilical cord blood. Some do, if certain diseases maybe be a threat to their children. It's expensive to bank the blood for years.
What I've been a supporter of is just banking the blood (they take donations), so it's available for use, just like giving pints of blood already is. Stem cells are abundant in the cut umbilical cord, and they are the building blocks of every part of your body. Excellent for simulating growth in atrophied tissue, or for bone marrow for leukemia patients.
Getting the word out to moms/dads is just what I like to see.
