Hi everyone,
I just went to my new DR. He wants to do an HSG because I may have scar tissue from periotonitis I received in 1999. I am ovulating and getting :af: but he said the scaring may be in my tubes. If it is I may have a blocked tube (maybe both) so the egg is floating around somewhere in my body and not going into the tube.
They did do a BETA today. I know it will be a BFN. I get the results tomorrow PM. If it is negative then I have to call and schedule an appt CD 7-12 for the HSG.
Has anyone experienced adhesions or scar tissue on their tubes before?? I would LOVE to hear from you.
TIA!
Kelly

Hi, Kelly
I am sorry to hear about what is going on, I really hope things work out for you and you get a BFP soon. I am sorry about the BFN you got.
If you do have scar tissue in the tubes, when they do thet HSG it should clear that problem right up, it will flush it all out and all that. And I have heard of alot of women getting pg right after having a HSG done. I wish you the very best.
Before the HSG be sure to take some kind of over the counter pain med to help with the pain, it's alittle Uncomfortable but not to bad, alot of women take something about 45 minutes prior to the procedure. GoodLcuk

Thanks Pat,
I took another HPT and yet another BFN. I should hear the results of the BETA by 11:30 today.
I just feel so disgusted with myself. Can't I do anything right!! My husband really wants another child. He seems so perfect to me so why can't I give him what he wants. It really makes me angry. I don't even feel like going to work today. I just want to stay home and wallow in my sorrow or pick up a good book and escape from life!!!!!
Thanks for listening.
Hugs,
Kelly

Hi Kelly. I hope your HSG went well. And, Pat is right in that the process of HSG can sometimes clear your tubes if they are blocked. I hope that is the case for you.
On another note, is IVF a possibility for you and your DH?

I don't want to do IVF. If it comes to that then I will give up and be extra thankful for our daughter.

I never had an HSG but I did have scar tissue in my tubes. I didn't at first, I had other tube problems that were never clearly determined...but after two ectopic pregnancies and surgery to remove them both, I did have scar tissue in my tubes.
An HSG *can* clear out your tubes but if you have a lot of scar tissue, it won't just "float away" with the HSG dye. It would be great if it was that simple, but unfortunately that's not usually the case.
That said, you CAN get pregnant even with scar tissue in your tubes, I have a friend that did with the help of IUI. IUI can help because it gives the sperm more of a chance to meet up with the egg since the egg isn't going to travel as far on its own as it would if you had clear tubes. The downside is you have a higher chance of it getting stuck and having an ectopic pregnancy.
I hope that either the HSG shows your tubes are clear, it clears them out, or that it's just an overall simple issue that can be resolved easily! I know you don't want to do IVF but it is a good option - that's what we chose to do, bypass my tubes all together.
