Are you taking something that's been prescribed to you by a physician, or are you going the route of going to your local drug store and getting a "generic" version?

I am taking the prenatals you can buy over the counter, the cheaper version, they are just as good.
I took over the counter Prenatals, which were a lot cheaper than the prescribed ones. And do just a good Job IMO

How much folic acid should be in the prenatal vitamins? Is it 400 mcg? I can't remember if it was 400 or 600 mcg... I know when I took them for a time, the OTC ones made me feel a little nauseous, and I recall that other ladies said that was normal.
Me, I'm just looking forward to TTC - whenever it happens!! One can surely dream!

I took ones prescribed by my doc. It's been a while, so I have no idea how much folic acid was in them. :heee: The only time mine made me nauseous was the one time I made the mistake of taking one on an empty stomach - I thought I was going to :puke:. Believe me, I didn't make that mistake again!

I think that's the reason why I felt sick, when I took them without a full stomach. Course, the bottle never said to take them with food!! (how hard can it be to have that ON the bottle)
Read somewhere that there should be "30 mg of ferrous iron supplementation" in the prenatals, too. Has anyone else heard about this? I know folic acid is important for early development (neural tube/brain/spinal development), but this is the first I've seen about increasing iron consumption, too. Usually iron consumption is talked about for AF days...
