Hi

Has anyone read info on Milk? When do you plan to give Homo milk.
I heard that it is better to give goats milk instead on whole milk?

My understanding is that Milk shouldn't be given to a baby until he/she is at least 1 year of age. As for which is better, I dunno. I guess goat's milk has been used as an alternative when children are allergic to regular cow's milk. Other than that, I'm not sure.

We waited until Seda was 1 week shy of her first birthday to give her whole (cow's) milk. She was breastfed so I thought it might be an issue but she took to it no problem. I've also heard that goats milk is better as a first milk because it is easier on their digestive system. We didn't try that though :embarass:. Also everything that I have read states the whole milk definately should not be given before 1 year because it does not have all the nutrition that breastmilk or formula has.

The more I talk to people about feeding the boys as they get older the more confusing things seem. when we were growing up these things were not a factor. I am scared to give them something or not give them something that could hurt them in the future. We plan to leave them on formula until they are at least 1 year old and avoid any milk products until then.

We started transitioning Julian to whole milk when he was about 10 1/2 months old, with his pedi's blessing. We didn't switch him completely over to milk until after his first birthday.

I am mostly wondering about milk products. Yogurt, cheese etc. Can babies under a year have these things.

We fed Seda Yogurt when she was under 1 but it was soy Yogurt. We held off on cow's milk related products until she was a year. Now she eats cheese and drinks milk daily.

Kim, I just started giving Jonathan and Jenna plain yogurt mixed with fruit. My pedicatrician indicated that it would be okay to do so. They seem to be doing fine. I was worried that they might have the same reaction they did to milk based formula. I've only given it to them a couple of times, so I think it's too early to tell.

HTH. :)

We waited until the girls were at least a year before transitioning them to whole milk or milk products. They all did fine with cow's milk. :)
