My son is about to outgrow his infant seat (Evenflo) and I haven't had the time to thoroughly research a reasonably priced convertible car seat. The extent of my research has been to read some consumer comments for a few products on Babies-R-Us website... Any helpful recommendations? Anything to stay away from?

We have the Evenflo Triumph (http://www.evenflo.com/pr/co/prco_triumph.phtml). We first tried another seat, I can't remember the name :embaras: , but it didn't fit in our back seat. We have a Subaru Outback which has a very small back seat. We like the Triumph but there are some down sides. THe one strap keeps getting twisted inside the seat and also sometime's it's hard to release the straps. Ont thing that is different is that you kind of crank a knob to tighten the straps in rather than pulling on a strap. I like this becaus I think that you can get it really snug. Especialy when they have winter coat on.

Jenn also forget to mention that the device to tighten the seat stripes is on the side not in front of the seat, which was another problem we were have due to how our back seat is configured - if a car seat was rear facing and had the tighening device in the front then we could not get to it easily either to tighten or to release.
This is good to know for when it's time for us to get one.

We also have the Evenflo Triumph. I've been pleased with it, and I like that you can tighten the straps by turning a knob. I could do that with Julian in the seat, which was nice. :aok:

We have Britax Marathons and really like them. They are definitely pricey, but well worth it I think. :) The seats are cushiony and the straps are so easy to work and adjust, if necessary. I usually only have to adjust them if the my children are wearing bulky clothing.

For our oldest, we have the Alpha Omega-its a nice car seat that goes to 80lbs. I like that fact it'll turn into a booster. Only drawback, the straps really like to twist. He also has a Maxi Cosi Priori-this car seat is only front facing. Its german made I beleive, and has the same specs as the Britax Roundabout when forward facingm except for the face it reclines a lot further.
Koltyn has a Britax Roundabout, and I LOVE it, and recommend it. Its worth the cost due to the comfort, and the straps are always straight. Its easy to adjust, and with the versa tether when used forward facing, the car seat wont budge. His 2nd car seat is an Evenflo Medallion, its 2 years old. But, another well made very adjustable car seat. I don't even know if they make them anymore. It came with "a seat within a seat" which has been handy since its pretty wide and Koltyn still needed the support when we switched from the carrier.
