When you test, do you do it when DH/SO is around, or are you planning on surprising them with the news that you're pregnant?

I think part of me would want DH to be there, when it's time to look at the pregnancy test, but the other part of me thinks it would be just as fun to surprise DH with the news. Kind of like taking him out to his favorite restaurant, or cooking a special dinner for him, and then telling him the news.

What did you do, or what do you plan to do?

I had role played this many times in my head. How I would tell dh. The way I actually told him was not quite as romantic as I hoped it would be.

When I had my m/c this is how I told my dh i was pg.
I took a test (had just had my period 2 weeks before, I was actually expecting to be ovulating soon when I took the hpt, but as I said before I'm a pee on a stick a holic.) Anyways, he was out cleaning off the porch, i took the test. Went back to see it, and it was positive. I ran out to him and screamed " I AM!!!" He said , " You are what??" I said "pregnant" I showed him the test, he told me not to get my hopes up it could be wrong. I was crying so hard I was so happy.
I went out and bought 6 more tests. All positive. Even after I had drank a lot of water (diluted urine ) still positive. He finally believed it then.

I suprised DH both times.

The first time I told him when he came home from work, I told him his dinner was in the oven. When he looked in there was a cup cake. It took him a while to figure out the whole 'bun in the oven' joke!!!

The 2nd time, was also a dinner suprise, and I thought I would make it so much easier for him. I set the table and instead of a knife I put out my digi + test. I seriously think my DH is not all that bright. He tried to use his 'knife' And couldnt figure out why I was laughing so much

There will be no 3rd time lucky

I toss this around alot. I think I would want Baden with me when I first suspect. I also would like to buy a baby outfit and hang it where he normally puts his work clothes for the next morning....of course it will say...I love Daddy on it somewhere!
