Temping before TTC

For anyone who did temp before they started TTC'ing, how long before you TTC did you temp? 3 months ahead? 1 month ahead? Were you satisfied with what your chart was telling you...did it show that you ovulated?

I started just about as soon as we started TTC, and all temping did was make me berserk. I only did it for five cycles, because it got to where the whole tenor of my day was determined by the number on the thermometer. My chart was whacked out anyway, for good reason - it turns out I didn't ovulate strongly enough to do any good. So I'd suggest to anyone thinking about TTC *not* to start out charting unless you have reason to think you might not be ovulating (I did it because I'd always been sort of irregular and I was over 30, so I figured it might be useful). If you have no reason to think you have any infertility issues, I wouldn't mess with any extra stuff like charting, OPK's, etc. - that really does take a lot of the spontaneity and fun out of the process.
