Home made Tortilla Chips!!
Okay...this is the best great tasting tortilla chip!!
Get a pack of burrito shells or soft taco shells..(cheapest kind)
Cut burrito shells in any shape..I used a circle cookie cutter..(kinda works) but a knife will do better!
take a 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil (which is absolutely healthy for your heart (according to dr.Z on the Oprah show!)
Heat the oil up in a small skillet (medium heat prefferable)
within a minute or two the oil is hot, but you want it to bubble when you put in your chip, so take a piece of burrito and test it out...If the oil bubbles when you put it in, the oil is hot enough!
Then take two or 3 chips at a time and cook. They will turn brown fast so flip them when you see the chip tan. Then give it a few seconds on each side.
Take them out, and place on a papertowelled plate. and immediately salt or squeeze lime or lemon juice....
Yummy..they are so good.. Not like a deep fried tortilla chip (which is delicious) but just as good, and healthier for you!!
