We just passed though that, and have a 13 year old.... heaven help me PLEASE!!
I don't know if it's different for boys and girls, but we are dealing with some pretty tough stuff. Disobedience, disrespect, laziness, boys (ok, well that part is different! ), unkind to younger simblings... UGH!!
Why do they want to grow up SO fast!! :( And worse... why do some parents let them!? Some of my daughter's friends... 12-14 year old girls wear more make-up than I do! And, they have boyfriends... at 13 years old!! And the clothing manufacturers don't help. I mean some of the clothes out there are just ridiculous! I'm having a hard time finding jeans that come up to my 8 year old daughter's waste!!
Anyway... I ramble... I feel you pain!!

I'm not a mom to tweens - I'm an aunt! I guess one of the nephews I can't call a 'tween' anymore; he just turned 13. His twin brother/sister will be 12 in August. Since they were around 10/11 - it's just been crazy. You don't know what to get them for gifts, because you want to try to be up-to-date on the trends.
But while I see all three of them trying to be cool and trendy, it's my niece that's the worst. She's not into too much of the makeup (mainly fingernail polish), and that's because my sister/BIL won't let her do much more than that. She'd like to do more, just to keep up with the girls at school. But some of the things she says, it just makes me wonder. Like the time she asked me why my arms were all hairy. Okay, I have red hair, and my body hair is light brown/blonde...she thought that she should have shaved arms, like this girl in her class.
Man, I have a hard enough time keeping my legs/armpits shaved...and she wanted to know if it was okay to shave the arms?!? I told her that her arms were just fine as what they were, and because she already has blonde/brown hair that she would be okay. Guys like arm hair...and yet, I felt odd for saying it, because maybe the guys in her class liked shaved arms on girls??
The nephews are more into sports, rather than trying to look good enough to catch a girlfriend. I think girls just mature quicker than boys; it's always been that way, right?
